Profile
Dorothee Garth is a Principal Lecturer at NUS-ISS who specialises in Digital Products & Platforms. With over 15 years of experience in the tech industry, Doro is passionate about using the ever-evolving opportunities technology provides to build products that genuinely make a difference. She has in-depth experience developing them from early stages to million-user platforms.
After leaving her native Germany for Singapore in 2013 to join fashion & lifestyle startup ZALORA, Doro spent almost a decade in digital commerce hands-on extending ZALORA’s B2C and B2B product capabilities. During her tenure as Regional Director of Product Management, she led the product and UX teams through many transformations navigating ZALORA’s growing scale of operations, culminating in the achievement of the company's profitability milestone. As she worked increasingly on organisational change to improve product development outcomes, it led her to join NUS-ISS to help others on the same journey.
Prior to this, Doro spent several years in the creative world of video games, where she led quality assurance for the first direct-to-consumer casual games. At Electronic Arts, adopting the mission to inspire and bring joy through play had a deep effect on the way she still seeks to impact with products. As a Singapore “homegrown” product practitioner, Doro is also a member of the local product and design community and previously co-organized the UXSEA conference.
Herself a passionate lifelong learner, Doro is invested in continuously improving her learning and teaching. She recently obtained a FlexiMaster in Mind, Brain and Education from NTU, which informs her teaching practice with insights from cognitive sciences and technology.
Doro’s mission at NUS-ISS is to inspire and guide students to become curious and confident product thinking practitioners.
